Review: TomTom ONE EU GPS v2
Even my dad was impressed and that is saying something!
Just come back from a touring holiday in France and only took my on the wrong road twice (a one way in a residential area and along a track) but the Tom Tom One EU Europe rerouted perfectly each time. It is also so up to date it wanted me to join a motorway which wasn't quite finished so it was a matter of following road signs for a short distance so again no problem. Saved lots of time and the petrol station POI very handy.
However, I did have to exchange my first unit as the screen was over sensitive and jumped pages when I was driving, amoung other things so obviously a fauly unit - Amazon were great, had me a new unit delivered to my door the morning after my phone call. 10/10 for Amazon!! Yes, a few of the gripes people have mentioned are slightly irritating (battery power only lasting 2 hours etc) but this unit is excellent.
I've used Tom Tom One EU Europe for over a month so far and it's never given me a major problem. Once I couldn't get my pc to recognise it but am unconvinced this was the TomToms fault.
I have downloaded POIs and voices to my unit and now am guided everwhere by Dr Evil ("throw me a frickin' bone" he shouts if you insist on driving off course!)
Other than that it has always taken me exactly where I want it to. Via postcode, address or whatever.
Maybe you TomTom-haters are just technophobes ? :¬)
If you want a home charger (or even a solar powered one for £20-odd!) there are some decent models on EBAY. Tom Tom One EU V2 Review at Amazon...

Bought this Tom Tom One EU Europe to replace a garmin streetpilot i3 that I've owned for a couple of years. Nothing wrong with the garmin, but always wanted the TomTom but could never afford!
As others have said, this is a great unit, works straight out of box and has all you need on the internal memory.
TomTom Home software no problem to use and backups of the unit very easy to do via Home or Windows Explorer, although using the latter cant seem to locate using the TomTom Home software?
downloaded free extra voices such as Ozzy and Yoda, and all the latest camera locations with ease.....unit has frozen once, but recovered on reset....First thing to do on purchase is back up, as this will ease any fears once you start managing the memory.
European version at £185 and free case, has to be a bargain for such a small, stylish easy to use sat nav Tom Tom One EU V2 Review at Amazon...

Can I clarify a couple of points ...
Some reviewers have complained about the windscreen mount falling off, but I just can't understand this. Having wiped a corner of the windscreen clean, the Tom Tom One EU Europe mount suckered on nicely and now feels like it's superglued to the glass. It is hard enough to prise off, so I can only assume some users have stuck it on a dirty windscreen or just not pressed hard enough.
Also, some people are confused about the Tom Tom One EU Europe SD card. Old versions of the TomTom One came with the map(s) on an SD card that slots into the bottom of the unit. The more recent ones have the maps and software etc pre-installed internally in the unit in some kind of storage facility that cannot be removed. The capacity is 1Gb which is enough for the software (8Mb), the European maps (908Mb), different voices (660 Kb each), post codes of UK (9.4 Mb) and lots of places of interest (1 or 2 Kb each). So you can run out of space, but using the PC software supplied you can completely manage the files stored internally and delete unwanted voices and points of interest leaving just what you need and about 25Mb free space, that you can use to store favourite addresses, and extra things you may wish to download.
The Tom Tom One EU Europe still has the SD card slot. It does not come with an SD card itself, but a decent one is only 5 - 10 quid. The SD card and slot is in case you wish to purchase additional maps, such as Hong Kong, the US, eastern Europe etc and when you purchase these, you download them onto your PC and copy to an SD card, then slot the SD card in. When you then switch on the TomTom, it detects the presence of the card and uses that card instead of the maps stored on the build-in storage. Note, you cannot put a blank SD card into the slot and use it as extra space to the internal storage. It's one or the other.
I would have preferred say 1.5Gb for the internal storage, this would have allowed every available voice, point of interest etc to be contained on it without having to judiciously manage the files via the software. Tom Tom One EU V2 Review at Amazon...
Review: TomTom ONE EU GPS v2
I bought my Tom Tom One EU Europe recently and have had no problems. Yes, I did have to press the reset button almost straight away as the screen froze and I couldn't switch it off. That's what's so great about these reviews, you learn so much!! I've used it a couple of times around my home city and it has already shown me routes I never new existed but were much better than my traditional routes. So, no complaints from me. I have managed to get my free Tom Tom One EU Europe Traffic trial working straight away and found the Tom Tom software easy to use. The fixture setup for the car windscreen is also easy to use, can't replicate the problems others have reported. I would recommend buying the home charger as charging from the cigarette lighter is a hassle. I give it four stars instead of five 'cos that's just my nature! Tom Tom One EU V2 Review at Amazon...
